For Families

Welcome Aggie Families!

This is an exciting step for your student and we recognize the hard work you have invested to help them get here. Family orientation is designed to provide support and direction for family members of incoming NMSU students. Attending a Family Orientation Program will provide you with an opportunity to meet campus staff, learn about services and resources while also meeting other family members who are experiencing a similar transition with their student. Whether your student is transferring from another college or an incoming freshman, we offer programming aimed at preparing you for this important transition to New Mexico State University. While the Family Orientation Program is optional, we strongly encourage you to attend. There is no additional fee to attend and we know that you will leave here feeling more connected to the university and prepared to be a partner in your student’s success.

Sign Up for Family Orientation

Your student will reserve your space for the Family Orientation Program when they sign up for their orientation program. If you would like to sign up, please have your student log into the online reservation system using their myNMSU account information and they can add up to four family members to attend.

What to Expect

Your student will receive a confirmation email with day-of details, as soon as their $50.00 deposit for orientation has been made. For Summer 2021, all sessions will be held virtually.  We will have a variety of resources for family programming being offered. Please ensure that your email address is included in the guest section when your student is registering for their orientation session so that the Family Outreach staff can contact you with information about programming for your specific date or about family programming in general throughout the year.

Spanish Programming

All student programming is offered in English; while family members may choose to attend a program that offers Spanish translation throughout the program. Specific dates with Spanish programming availability are listed on the AWO program home page.
