For Families & Supporters

Welcome Aggie Families & Supporters!

This is an exciting step for your student and we recognize the hard work you have invested to help them get here. Family & Supporter Orientation is designed to provide support and direction for family members & other supporters of incoming NMSU students. Attending a Family & Supporter Orientation session will provide you with an opportunity to meet campus staff, learn about services and resources while also meeting other family members & supporters who are experiencing a similar transition with their student. Whether your student is transferring from another college or an incoming freshman, we offer programming aimed at preparing you for this important transition to New Mexico State University. While the Family & Supporter is optional, we strongly encourage you to attend. There is no additional fee to attend (althought you have the option to purchase additional meals) and we know that you will leave here feeling more connected to the university and prepared to be a partner in your student’s success.

Sign Up for Family & Supporter Orientation

Your student will reserve your space for the Family & Supporter Orientation when they sign up for their New Student Orientation program. If you would like to sign up, please have your student log into the online reservation system (https://newstudentregistration.nmsu.edu/login) using their myNMSU account information and they can add up to four family members to attend.

What to Expect

Your student will receive a confirmation email as soon as their $50.00 deposit for New Student Orientation has been made or their fee deferral request has been approved. We will have a variety of resources for families/supporters being offered. Please ensure that your email address is included in the Family Engagement section when your student is registering for their orientation session so that the Family Engagement staff can contact you with information about programming for the specific date about a week before the orientation or about family engagement programming in general throughout the year.

Spanish Programming

All student programming is offered in English similar to how their college courses will be. All dates will have family/supporter programming in English, with certain dates also providing family/supporter programming in Spanish. You can find those specific dates on the main page of our website: https://awo.nmsu.edu/
